Dartmouth Baptist Church

Reaching out to the Community with the Love of God

About Us

Our aim is to make Jesus known in our community
here in Townstal, Dartmouth.

To serve the people in our local community here in Townstal and  show them the love of Jesus
in everything we do.

To faithfully preach the gospel as written in the Bible
and follow it with the guidence of the Holy Spirit.

There has been a Baptist community in Dartmouth for nearly 400 years.  A Baptist Church was opened in Dartmouth in the lower part of the town in the early 1600s.  Thomas Newcomen the inventor of the first practical steam engine for pumping water, which you can see in the town, was a teaching elder and a lay preacher in the early Baptist church and he was pastor of the church from 1710 -1730.

In 1954 there was a new town rejuvinating and housing program in Dartmouth.  The old church was sold and our current building was purpose built in the upper part of the town in Carey Road.
In 2007 the church underwent a major refurbishment to bring it up to modern building standards including disability access
.The church is currently situated in the middle of the Townstal estate and we seek to serve the community here in many ways, spiritual, social and practical.   We meet for worship on a Sunday morning and also run midweek activities e.g. Lunch club, Toddler group and Coffee morning.
We hope to expand this service and support for the community and vulnerable in the future as we are enabled and led by God
